Background

This year the Festival is being organised at Taramati Baradari, a historical site near Golconda Fort, Hyderabad.

 

Suranjali Foundation, is a nonprofit Trust registered@33/IV/2013, based in Hyderabad, and is dedicated to the cause of various societal activities across the country. To further the cause, Suranjali Foundation has been organizing Pt.Bhimsen Joshi National Festival of Music and Dance for three successive years now ie. 2012,2013 & 2014 at Hyderabad.

 

This Festival is now one of the listed Festivals in the National Calendar of Festivals on the lines of Dover Lane Music Festival, Kolkata; Sawai Gandharva Festival, Pune ; Tansen Festival, Gwalior; Saptak Festival, Ahmedabad; Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan, Mumbai etc. DD Bharati has recognised our Festival at par with National Festivals in India and therefore covers our 3 day Festival Live, beaming to all the stakeholders across 58 countries.

 

Suranjali Foundation takes great pride in institutionalizing this Festival : Pt.Bhimsen Joshi National Festival of Music and Dance,  as one of the major Festivals of India and bringing glory to our city Hyderabad - the Capital of Telangana State.

 

Pt.Bhimsen Joshi Music Festival, Hyderabad 2012, at Chowmahalla Palance, the First three day Festival included the famous Artists such as Shri.Shrinivas Joshi (Hindustani Vocal ) son of Bharat Ratna Pt.Bhisen Joshi, Pt.Kumar Bose ( Tabla Solo), Pt.Rajan & Sajan Mishra ( Hindustani Vocal ), Ms.Alarmevalli (Bharatnatyam), Ustad Shahid Parvez ( Sitar), Pt.Ajoy Chakraborty ( Hindustani Vocal ), Ms. Shobana  ( Bharatnatyam), Pt. Shankar Ghosh ( Tabla Solo), Pt. Ronu Majumdar ( Flute), Kumaresh & Ganesh ( Violin) and Pt.Bickram Ghosh ( Tabla).

 

Pt.Bhimsen Joshi National Festival of Music and Dance Hyderabad 2013 at Shilpakalavedika featured the following artists which included Purbayan Chatterjee (Sitar) jugalbandi with Shashank Subramanyam(Flute)and Anubrata Chatterjee ( Tabla), Begum Parveen Sultana ( Vocals),Ms.Shallu Jindal  ( Kuchipudi Dance), Pt.Budhaditya Mukherjee  ( Sitar), Ms.Shobhana ( Bharatnatyam), Pt. Yogesh Samsi (Tabla Solo), Pt.Hari Prasad Chaurasia ( Flute).
