A picture is worth a thousand words. Every picture tells two stories, the story which is captured by the camera, and the story that unfolds behind the camera, which results in the photograph.
It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has some glorious ruins, of a glorious empire; an Empire of indigenous origins that had propelled to its peak in a matter of few centuries but was ruthlessly wiped of the map.
I have been to Hampi in the past, and some of my Vijayanagar photographs will be showcased at the Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai, from Nov 11th to Nov 17th, in an exhibition titled “Shadows of an Empire”.
Hampi has possibilities for almost all kinds of photography; nature, Historical, Monumental, People, Cultural, even Wildlife, and the boulders are very inviting. Find your spot and watch the Tungabhadra flow by.
So join me on a trip back to a glorious era, when diamonds were sold on the streets. It’s a simple program with two nights stay in Hampi, lot of walking around, lot of clicking, lots of learning, and we shall come back with a lot of images.
The costing shall be on a sharing basis. The cost is estimated to be about Rs 3,000 for travelling and another Rs 5,000 for lodging & boarding in Hampi. Guess a round figure of 10 grand would suffice.
The dates are 16th Sep (Tues) departure, two nights (Wed & Thurs) in Hampi, and arrive back in Pune on Sat morning.
We will do the bookings particularly accommodations, as we keep getting confirmations. We will close the RSVP on 13th giving us two days to finalize the logistics.
