About The Event

Landscape with human presence
About the theme: Landscape has inspired photographers, painters, artisans, writers, poets to capture nature in her various colors and shades. It is said about landscape that it is not a passive entity. It has shaped thoughts, cultures and the way societies evolved. In turn landscape has been altered by humans in their attempt to make it habitable. They were made unique through unique life styles of peoples inhabiting it. Societies t

oo became inseparable from their landscape. Landscape became a major part of their identity. In this, they become strong cultural markers. To celebrate and preserve this bond, some of the outstanding cultural landscapes were declared as world heritage sites in 1992.

We would like you to discover relationship of people with their landscape. Place people in their landscape and click; people celebrating, singing, dancing, working, mourning, in pain, feeling alienated or just being there in the landscape which sculpted their identities. It is not necessary that the theme of your pictures has to be a pleasant one. You may also show landscapes scarred by human presence and activity.

Please Keep it in mind that while clicking your pictures do not lose their character of a landscape. We are sure you will find this to be an interesting pursuit. So look around and bring us pictures showing landscapes in relation to presence of humans.

What are we looking for: Landscapes with human presence. The pictures should have a sense of place and local “flavor”. By local flavor it is meant that the picture should be able to capture the essential elements of a landscape including human presence. For example ..Sherpas and landscape of Nepal...
