About Michael Margolis Michael Margolis is a teacher, business philosopher, and best-selling author. Since 2002, Michael has pioneered the use of storytelling for innovators and changemakers. As the CEO of Get Storied and founder of Story University, he runs one of the world’s first schools for business and transformational storytelling. Leading organizations such as Google, Greenpeace, NASA, Bloomberg, and TATA, turn to Michael as a trainer and trusted advisor. Currently a global nomad, Michael travels the world, teaching and living in a new creative hub every 2-4 months. He speaks frequently at venues including TED, SXSW, and UN Foundation. As an international teacher, Michael has worked across 9 countries, and teached at venues including Deloitte University, Zappos Insights, NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center, and the Schulich School of Business.

Michael’s first career at the age of 22, was as a social entrepreneur applying business principles to social change & innovation. Despite the success of funding from Rockefeller Foundation, Ford Foundation, and JP Morgan, he soon experienced the burnout of startup life. This led him on a quest into the heart of storytelling. Born in the U.S., Michael grew up in Switzerland, before moving to Los Angeles at the age of 9. As the son of an inventor and artist, curiosity and creativity ruled the home. This helps explain Michael’s unconventional path.

Michael has a B.A. in cultural anthropology from Tufts University, and a Business Bridge certificate from Darmouth’s Tuck School of Business. As a student of the Great Mysteries, his teachers include: Desda Zuckerman (School of Subtle Anatomy), Paul Costello (Center for Narrative Studies), and Swami Kripalvanada (Kripalu School of Yoga).
