About The Event

“KAMLA” a realistic play by eminent Marathi playwright Vijay Tendulkar (1981) based on real life incident “exposure of flesh market by a journalist in 1981”. Focusing on changing role of a woman in the society. A journalist who actually brought a girl from remote area “Luharpura” and presented her in press conference to expose the flesh market of Madhya Pradesh.  Journalist tries to capitalize the issue in order to further succeed in his career without caring “THE OBJECT” he bought and many other like her….

Playwright throws certain sensitive questions regarding the valuesystem of success oriented- modern generation society who in the name of humanity, are ready to sacrifice human.  On the other hand his daring wife Sarita finds Kamla and herself on the same platform of slavery and sex in the society. She tries to break the barriers, prepares herself and plans to hold a press conference to show the real face of her husband who pretending to be against humantrade-off and sex slavery but in reality

“He is the king of slaves” he uses them and don’t even care…and she too one of them.
