It is the oldest rainforest (130 million years old) and buzzing with the most unique and rare wildlife (terrestrial and marine). Many creatures have colonized this Island but a few have mastered it; here the squirrels glide from trees to trees and birds use sound clicks as a form of sonar to navigate through the dark to reach their nests on cave walls.
Some of the trees here scale up to 200 meters and have been living for over 1000 years. Here we also meet Borneo’s great ape - the Orangutan with whom we humans share 97% of the genetic makeup.
You will spend last 4 days including the New Year Eve in the coral triangle, which is hopping to 8 distinct Islands of dazzling beauty. Exploring these Islands you will notice how the reef closely knits the key species, like sea turtles, nearly 500 species of fish and over 2000 other such life forms that live around it.
If this doesn’t sound like a great adventure already, add the exceptional presence of the sea gypsies and local tribes with a pleasant absence of mass tourism.
