International Mask Exhibition 2012. Masks and their various forms of guises are one of the very significant modes of cultural expression. This is one of the many ways through which cultures have given voice to their powerful cognitions and most subtle emotions, to define their inner and outer realities. Masks are used as revelatory devices to connect the unseen with the seen objects and have a different uses in the ritualistic context. In an urban society mask have lost its actual implication and often deprecated in metaphors of everyday speech. Today in this contemporary world we all wear a mask.
Nav Siddhartha Art group is organizing an exhibition thematically based on Mask comprising of about 300 artists from various parts of India and abroad as well. A fiber glass mask of same size has been provided to each of the participating artist to come up with their creative insight. Interestingly when we see the range of works we can notice the artists have presented the entire range of different mediums of artistic practices, genre and concerns of the contemporary society. Each mask imply that which is the foremost concern to the artist with which he is dealing in current scenario.
The objective behind this novel inventive is to create a hub of artists across the country even those including from the periphery and to bring them to a common platform.
