InDIGO 2012 : International Denim Conference

Denim is an age old fabric but India's denim journey began in 1980s' with Arvind foraying into Denim manufacturing. India has since fast grown into a global hub for Denim. The international denim conference @ InDIGO 2012 aims to look at the journey and evolution of the Indian Denim Industry over the last four decades, as well as highlight and bring in focus the entire range of issues which need to be discussed for ensuring that Indian Denim Industry is geared up to capitalise the growth in the denim segment by addressing challenges and bridging gaps.

The international denim conference will provide an essential opportunity to network with key individuals within the industry, additionally an international line-up of  experts will share a wealth of knowledge, experience and insight into the latest innovative products, market trends, case studies and trade secrets.

This unique 2-day International Conference will bring together a multi-disciplinary delegation, to encourage discussion and advance collaborative opportunities and provide delegates with an insight into the future world of the denim industry.

Denim is one of the fastest growing sectors of the global textile industry. The denim industry has been witnessing growth and even during periods of recession sales of Jeans were not affected as much as other consumer and apparel items.  

Environmental stability, aka, Green, is just beginning. Most are reluctant and hoping that this initiatives will die soon. However, green is here to stay and it is the very way for growing future business. It is time to open our minds and adopt green, it will demand change in thinking, help seeing problems differently, will require intellectual inertia and will require innovation.

Denim has maintained its popularity however, it is not an environment friendly product. More and more companies are now shifting focus to sustainability and environmentally-friendly productive standards. While on one hand technique like Sandblasting are being banned by global giants companies like Levis and H & M on the other hand companies are innovating and creating equipment to replicate the effect of sandblasting.

Globally, denim designers are experimenting with fabric and garment details—including embellishments—for value addition. Patches, appliqué, rhinestones and glitter are being incorporated in form new add-ons besides  incorporating smart fabrics and interactive technologies.
The conference at IndIGO 2012 shall be focusing on innovation, capacity building, sustainability and growth opportunities in denim. It will offer a platform for companies to spread awareness about design & development; emerging technologies and applications; and eco-friendly garment washing, paving the path for manufacturing greener denim as well as smarter denim apparel.

A galaxy of renowned denim experts from India and abroad will engage the audience in a thought-provoking and meaningful dialog, in various paper presentation sessions and panel-discussions.
