The activity is being conducted by the forum for Financial Inclusion & Payment Systems (FIPS) and is being hosted by our organization Catallyst Constellations. This Knowledge Quest is a follow up topic focused knowledge discovery initiative in which we plan to deep dive on the drivers and inhibitors towards financial inclusion being driven by mobile based financial services. Given the activities in policy framing for MFS as well as various initiatives taken up by the telcos in collaboration with a handful of banks (mostly private), there has now been a crying need for a platform where all the ecosystem players for financial inclusion should discuss openly about the issues, challenges and opportunities that exist in terms of inclusion and MFS.
The Knowledge Quest will not be a one day conference discussing the key concerns of Inclusion & the role of MFS in it, but will essentially be a host of other activities leading into deep diving of the issues related to this topic from dimensions like that of policy, adoption as well as technology. Albeit all the findings and the recommendations will be based on solid research that will not only help in analyses driven policy making, understanding some of the global best practices, but also will help in solving the issues related to the adoption of various mobile based financial services by the banked, under-banked and the unbanked populace across urban, semi urban and rural areas. There will be various working groups working on each of the identified issues ultimately culminating into a report on the policy recommendations that we will be submitting to the highest levels of policy making in the country like the Prime Minister/Cabinet within 100 days of the start of the Knowledge Quest, but also reports & suggestions to various organizations on issues related to adoption of various services that they are on the offer by the end user.
