Issues pertaining to land markets and housing in Indian cities are critical factors playing important roles in the economic development of these cities. In turn, economic development itself influences land and housing markets and all three affect and are affected by several sociopolitical factors.
Several questions may be asked about the issues, relationships and critical factors which exist in this field. How do we define housing? What are the core relationships between land and economic development? What are the key governance frameworks which are relevant to both of these? What are the gaps that exist in prevailing practice and theory about urban development?
The Infosession on Economic Development, Land and Housing will be a 1 Hour Online Session which will explore some of these issues. The Infosession will consist of a Q&A session between a presenter and IIHS Expert Gautam Bhan. Other IIHS experts will also be joining in to participate in the discussion and interested participants are encouraged to come up with their own questions and pose them.
The Infosession will also contain information about IIHS’ Programme for Working Professionals in Urban Development (PWP-UD). Land, Economic Development and Housing are explored in one of the major tracks within the Programme.
