About The Event

The Great Himalayan Walkathon 2014:

Walk for climate change from 23rd June to 6th July 2014

Fulfil your dream of experiencing the true beauty of nature by joining us for a life changing experience of a 200km in 12 days. the great Himalayan range starting from Rohtang Pass to Tanglangla. Let your lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery, air, mountains, trees, people while travelling through Kokhsar, Keylong, Tandi, Darcha, Patseo, Zingzing Bar, Baralachala Pass, Bharatpur, Sarchu, Pang, Nachungla Plains Muray Plains, Rumtse. In this journey we will be visiting several monasteries with great cultural heritage. We also observe the wildlife that is in existence at such a high altitudes. In this trip we provide an opportunity to practice Hatha Yoga at high Altitudes.

The glaciers of the Himalayas are called the Third Pole, as they are the third largest body of snow on our planet after the Antarctic and Arctic. Glacial runoff in the Himalayas is the largest source of fresh water feeding the giant rivers of Asia, and support half of humanity. The melting of snow in the Poles and climate change is reported frequently, but the melting of the Himalayan goes largely unreported. Himalayas are receding faster than in any other part of the world and the likelihood of them disappearing soon is very high.

"Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense". We are no climate change sceptic, and we have seen its effect on shrinking glaciers many times and every picture tells the true story. Join us on the journey and witness it yourself.
