About The Event

With a striking resemblance to the Matthorn peak in Europe, Mt. Frey near Rathong Glacier lies in the vicinity of the Mount Kabru, Rathong and Kokthang is West Sikkim. This peak is well approached transversing Frey glacier. This peak is named after famous mountaineer George Frey who is an attempt to climb this peak with Tenzing Norgey fell and died. George Frey with confidence did not listen to the advise of Tenzing Norgey to put on his crampons. Ice axe and crampons of George Frey are still lying at the base of Frey peak as his memorial.

Eligibility:

  1. Every member must have to be mentally and physically fit.

  2. Specifically this group will be permitted by the IMF (Indian Mountaineering Federation) and the Government of Sikkim.

 

Participation fees:

  1. For Indian Nationals: Rs. 22,000

  2. For foreigners: Rs. 45,000 


Cost Includes: 

 

  1. Inner line permit in Sikkim/Permission charges for the expedition.

  2. Porters/mules for carrying common goods, experienced guides for expedition.

  3. Three summit attempts.


Cost Excludes:


  1. Travel to Darjeeling.

  2. You will be charged extra for your own personal porter.

  3. Tips for Guides and Porters or staff.

  4. A hiring cost of Rs. 3000 will be charged extra for all necessary technical mountaineering gear. 

  5. Any additional equipment that you will need to rent.

  6. Transaction charges for Online Payment gateway or EDC Machine

 

Suggested things to carry:

  1. Approx 70L backpack to carry 15kg load.

  2. Approx 40L day pack for - camera, snacks, personal medication, water, warm cloths etc.

  3. Sleeping Bag - High Altitude Sleeping bag suitable for -10 Deg C.

  4. Down jacket - Suitable for -10 Deg C.

  5. Waterproof Ankle length Trekking shoes with hard sole.

  6. Enough pair of socks, undergarments.

  7. Personal medication (check with your doctor what all you will need on such a trip).

  8. Gloves, Monkey Cap, Sun hat, Sun glasses.

  9. Walking Sticks.

  10. Bladder bag (2Ltr).

  11. Energy Bars enough for the whole duration.

  12. Warm clothes.

  13. Blister tape.

  14. Windproof warm jacket, rain poncho or raincoat.

  15. Quick-dry towel.

  16. Neck warmer.

  17. Thermal undergarments.

  18. Synthetic T-shirts and trekking pants.

  19. Water purifying tablets or drops.

  20. Flashlight (additional headlight is recommended)

  21. Needle and thread, safety pins, duct tape.

  22. Camera, writing or recording material to log your experience.

The Terms and conditions mentioned below shall apply for the event:
  1. Maximum efforts are made to ensure the safety of the participant. However, BMC & their management or employees will not be responsible for injuries of any nature, mental or physical, whether caused directly or indirectly due to any adventure sports or their allied activities.

  2. Every participant is required to fill a registration form and indemnity bond prior to the commencement of the trip.

  3. Refund and cancellation:
    - If you cancel 45 days before the trip begins, BMC will retain 20% of the trip cost.
    - If you cancel 30 days before the trip begins, BMC will retain 50 % of the trip cost.
    - If you cancel less than 29 days before the trip begins, or, are not present when the trip begins, there will be no refund.
  4. BMC will take every care to ensure that itineraries are followed to the letter but circumstances beyond control may necessitate changes. In case of changes in routes and properties, BMC will accept no liability but make arrangements for substitution of equal.

  5. BMC will accept no liability for any damage, losses and expenses suffered by any client as a result of sickness, quarantine, weather conditions, war, strikes, riots or any other cause outside our control.

  6. Any damage, other than that attributable to fair wear and tear, to the equipments by the participants will be billed to you. Our decision on all such matters will be final and binding.
