The CSPO course focuses on the responsibilities of the Product Owner, a fundamental piece in the Scrum framework. The basics of Scrum are presented, values and process behind the concept. The course then discusses in depth the Product Owner role, its perspective in the Scrum Framework, common techniques for Estimation and Planning, details of the release planning meeting and several Product Backlog grooming (refinement) and prioritization techniques.
Though each CSPO course varies depending on the instructor, all Certified Scrum Product Owner® courses focus on Scrum from a product owner's perspective. Graduates will receive the CSPO designation. All CSPO course are taught by Certified Scrum Trainers.
Scrum Concepts and theory Basic concepts of the Scrum Framework, Principles and Values that assure the correct understanding of Scrum, The three legs of Scrum theory (transparency, inspection and adaptation) are explained. Fundamental values are examined in details: responsibility, self-organization and self-management, sense of urgency, commitment, technical excellence, rhythm, discipline, respect and courage. 3. The Scrum Framework: Meetings, Artifacts and Roles that comprise the Scrum Process. 4. The diferences between Agile and Traditional projects: The importance of building collaboration, focus on client needs, vision alignment, understanding and analyzing the Path of Unknowns, definition of ROI and Business Value, complexity and precision versus accuracy. 5. Estimating and Planning: The five levels of Estimation and Planning concepts, thinking at different abstraction levels, tasks performed before, during and after a Sprint, creation of the Product Backlog, the Dynamics of the Product Backlog, prioritization techniques, Business Value quantification, ROI calculation. 6. Release Planning: The importance of Release Planning, techniques for release planning meetings. 7. Product Backlog grooming/refinement techniques: Helpful tips for aligning Scrum and organizational needs (metrics, reports, etc.) using the Product Backlog. 8. Scrum Evolution: Definition of Scaling Scrum, Scrum of Scrums, Product Owner Configurations, Scrum beyond Software, Scrum and predefined processes like PMBOK, CMMI. 9. Other topics as required by the attendees.
