About The Event

A one of its kind cultural festival celebrating womanhood by none other than Padma Vibhushan Smt. Sonal Mansingh and her disciples
 
She appears in all forms of life. She fills the space with vibrations, sound, energy, colour. She is the great Creator of everything that exists in creation. She is the Great Mother, also the Female Principle, the Primordial Source of all. In an exciting range of texts selected from the timeless Rig-Veda and the Upanishads to contemporary poems, ‘Woman’, a cultural event by the Centre for Indian Classical Dances and supported by Art Karat will showcase the perennial concern with the Female Power in India. The two day event is being organized at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 8th & 9th March, 2016.
 
Renowned Cultural Icon of India Padma Vibhushan Smt. Sonal Mansingh, the Founder- President of the Centre for Indian Classical Dances will present new composition on the opening day. She will be enacting Naatya Katha titled ‘STREE’ which will see the perfect amalgamation of story-telling and abhinaya.
 
On 9th March, Smt. Soundarya Srivathsa from Bangalore will present performance in Bharatanatyam - ‘MAITERYI’, dedicated to the Indic philosopher who symbolizes the Indian intellectual woman. Chiseled lines, impeccable footwork, consummate abhinaya and absorbing stage presence are hallmarks of her dance. Carrying forward the theme of International Women’s Day the two young exponents of Kathak dance, Shri. Kadam & Smt. Raina Parikh from Ahmedabad will present ‘MUKT’. They display scintillating footwork and superb teamwork.
