About The Event

SATPURA – PANCHMARI 7th to 12th March, 2013 OVERVIEW:

Spread over 524 sq. km, the national park gets it’s name from the Satpura hill ranges. The jungle, encompasses an extremely rugged terrain consisting of sandstone peaks, slender gorges, ravines and dense forests abounding in wildlife. What truly sets this gorgeous national park aside from the rest is the full day safari which is permitted in the forest. Imagine a sumptuous meal right in the heart of the forest, besides a calm lake bounded by dense groves and full of chattering langurs and exotic birds, and who knows, maybe even a tiger…! Satpura national park is not a haunt of tourists yet, and that is where it scores over the others. A handful of gypsies, a couple of resorts and that’s it. The soothing quiet that engulfs Satpura like the fog on a winter’s morning will make you one with nature. Let’s discover the hidden surprises this enchanting tiger land holds in it’s depths together.

What to expect?

ï‚· It lacks the power and majesty of a tiger. The leopard’s panache and grace is wanting in it. Yet, this creature puts eager travelers into fits of excitement. The shaggy, mostly sluggish sloth bear is the unsung hero of the Indian jungles. Bhalu, as he is called by the locals, is a common sighting here.

ï‚· Satpura is prime tiger land. Tigers here have been undisturbed since man came into existence. Probably, the ‘wildest’ tigers anywhere in India.

ï‚· The leopard and the wild dog dwell in this mystical land, completing the famed quartet inhabiting those great Sal jungles typical of Central India.

ï‚· Expect to see an abundance of birds on a kayak / boat ride through the Denwa river.
