When this gorgeous hunk of metal was revealed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the crowds were left oohing and aahing over its sleek, smooth looking body, premium features. Now that this beauty has finally landed on the Indian shores, we can expect to see a mad rush among car junkies who have been waiting to either try it out or get their hands on it! Yes we are talking about the new Hyundai iGen i20 just launched in India.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd is not known as the second largest automobile manufacturer in the country for no reason as once again it proved to its competitors why it is one of the best in the industry. The new iGen i20 is aimed at the new generation tech savvy customers who are looking for the same kind of technological advancements and innovations in their cars and in-keeping with this demand, the manufacturers have included some top-class components, features and design elements.
So what are these fabulous new elements? This stylish car comes in petrol, diesel and automatic variation. A 1.2 Kappa petrol engine and Dual VTVT mechanism delivers 84 PS peak power while the 1.4 U2 CRDi diesel engine offers speed manual transmission and 90 PS power and 22.4 km-m of torque. On the other hand, the 1.4 Gamma automatic petrol engine offers 100 ps power and 13.9 kg-m torque.
If you are talking about style, this car has some pretty cool exterior features like high gloss front grille, 8-spoke sporty alloy wheels, rear spoiler with integrated stop lamp, chrome exterior door handles, and turn indicators on outside mirrors.
But the engine and exterior design are not the only specialties of this car. The iGen i20 has a host of features but normal and premium. The first in-segment features include Rear Parking Camera with cabin mirror display, Electro Chromic Mirror which offers anti-glare vision for night time driving, an advanced Clean Air-Cluster ionizer for fresh, pollutant-free air inside the car, auto headlight control, supervision cluster and rain sensing wipers, rear disc brakes.
If the usual features are nothing to sniff at, the premium features will blow you away. You will feel real luxury with Smart Key with push button start, one touch triple turn signal, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, driver seat arm rest, electric adjustable folding and heated outside mirrors.
Not yet satisfied, well, there is more! How about a tilt and telescopic steering, 60:40 split seat with cushion pop-up for optimum passenger and luggage space utilization, premium 2-DIN CD/MP3 Audio System with 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, USB, aux-in and Blue tooth connectivity along with steering mounted Audio and Bluetooth controls.
Concerned about safety features? Don’t be, the iGen i20 comes equipped with not one or two, but 6 air bags, ABS, a clutch lock system to prevent accidental starts, a smart pedal system where the brake pedal overrides the accelerator in case of panic braking, speed sensing auto door locking and impact sensing auto door unlocking (only in case of a collision)and reverse parking sensors. How is that for a safe car?!
Since Hyundai is already known for making fuel efficient and low-emission cars, it comes as no surprise that the iGen i20 offers the same. The iGen i20 petrol (1.2 Kappa Dual VTVT) delivers a mileage of 18.5 kmpl, the diesel variant (1.4 CRDi) delivers a mileage of 21.9 kmpl and the automatic transmission variant (1.4 ltr petrol) delivers 15 kmpl.
Already drooling? Well, the company has announced that the iGen i20 will be available in 12 petrol and diesel variants priced at Rs.4,73,400 to Rs.6,65,894 for the petrol version and Rs.5,96,334 to Rs.7,44,013 for the diesel one. The only automatic variant has been tagged at Rs.7,67,405.
