If you had been present at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi you would have had the first glimpse of the cool new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV which, according to company officials, is set to hit the Indian market on the 11th of April 2012. If you are already excited about the prospects of buying this new car then it will do you good to know something about the tech specs of this car.

This new, high-end multi-purpose vehicle is supposed to come in both petrol and diesel variants but the price and the number of each variant will only be decided post-Budget though the manufacturing plant has already been prepared at Gurgaon.

According to reports released by the company, the diesel variant will feature a 1.3-litre Fiat multi-jet engine that will generate 88PS of power and 200Nm of torque while the petrol variant will have the all-new K-14 VVT 1.4-litre engine (first time in India) that will produce 94PS of power and 130Nm of torque. According to a company statement, the diesel variant of the car is supposed to have a fuel efficiency of 20.77kmpl while for the petrol variant it is expected to be 10 to 12kmpl.

At 4.2 metre-long, the Ertiga looks like the perfect compact vehicle but with a spacious interior for larger and more comfortable seating capacity. It is rumored that the car will be available in five seater and seven seater variety with the middle row featuring split seats to make it easier to carry more luggage.

Since this car is pretty unique in its category, with only the Mahindra Xylo as its nearest rival, it created quite a stir when it was first unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi. Now all that is left is to wait for the market launch on April 11.
