Water being one of main sources of life, it is extremely important to make sure we have proper water management systems in place so that not a drop of this life-giving liquid is wasted. It is easy to turn on a tap but we must remember to turn it off.

Because of our negligence toward the wastage of water, the issue of water conservation has gained significant importance in recent years, more so after reports of declining ground water table in many parts of the world. Reducing and recycling waste water is now one of the most effective methods of water conservation along with using innovative water-saving technologies. To this end, some of the leading experts in the area of Water, including researchers, technocrats, policy makers, solutions-providers, industry bodies and consultants from across the world came together in a three day summit called the Bangalore World Water Summit, 2012.

Attended by national and international delegates, the focal theme of the Summit was “Urban Water Management.” A panel of eminent water experts was also called on to discuss and debat on topics such as conservation, ICT for water, water quality and health, effects of climate change on water, demand management, waste water management, financing water infrastructure and water governance and regulation.

Aimed at creating awareness on the issues related to water management,  the Summit also provided a platform to showcase new trends and technologies in the field while participants were encouraged to suggest innovative ideas and solutions related to water security. It was an interesting convention with Panel Discussions, Paper presentations, case study, Knowledge Exchange Forum and even awards ceremonies.

As an added bonus, guests and delegates were also treated to tours, poster presentations, the Gen X Water Exhibition, the Bangalore Water Walkathon and many other interesting, fun and interactive collateral events which stressed the importance of water management and conservation.
